Wills for Retirees

Learn why it is so important that valid wills are in place for each unique circumstance. In this page we explore Wills for retirees.

Wills for retirees

Bob and Mary

Bob and Mary are both retired and aged in their late 60’s. They own all of their assets as joint tenants including their home and want to ensure their children benefit equally when the last of them passes away. They would like to give money to the Cancer Council and have specific wishes about the disposal of their bodies after they die. Mary also wants to ensure that her wedding rings and jewellery pass to her daughter. Finally, one of their sons was ill and they wanted to ensure that his children would benefit if he were to die before them.

The Will

After discussing their circumstances with our Senior Estate Planning Solicitor, Conrad Curry, they made wills leaving everything to each. They made specific gifts to the Cancer Council on the passing of the last of them and Mary left her jewellery to her daughter. The balance of the estate was left equally between Bob and Mary’s children and if one of the children were to pass away before them, then to the children of that child.

Both Bob and Mary set out their wishes to be buried in the same plot with a single headstone. They now have peace of mind knowing that their assets and funeral arrangements have all been taken care of.

We offer a range of plans to suit Wills for retirees and those in other circumstances. You can explore these options here.
